Almost as fast as it started, the Bandung trip comes to an end. A close. I would say that... A lot of things happened on this trip, a lot of good, but also a lot that makes me question some stuff. I think overall though, it's been more than fruitful for the both of us. I got to share a room and take plenty of pictures with the girl I like after all.
There were times during the trip that I felt we were getting closer, despite things like the somewhat interesting rejection of a lot of physical contact on the last day, or rather the night of the second last day. It didn't affect much of the trip overall, but I did question why she only decided to really bring it up now and not earlier, and she said because she was unsure about it. I honestly think that she's a bit conflicted with it, and it only really began to surface on the last day, as the first day and the times after, she was rather receptive to the whole thing, never mind rejection. Still, I mean while her words at the end took me by surprise a little, I guess I can't be too shocked by it either. I think that to me, she's afraid of going into something too quickly, recalling all the times in the past things perhaps didn't work out the way she wanted it to, having given too much, somewhat devaluing her actions; make them feel cheap if you will.
I mean of course, I feel that it's unfair to me that I go through this, and I guess a part of me does wonder if it's just something to do with me rather than her, but she does a lot to assure me it's just her and that she needs time to settle into it and not feel pressured, forced and what not by it.
I would wait. I would wait as long as needed be. I want this to work. I like her a lot and she likes me too, and I'm sure one way or another we both want this to work out into something, but she has her own issues to face with at the moment, and unfortunately, I'm at the heart of it. I feel shy to say this, but the number of times as well, I woke up middle in the night, just for a short while, to see her sleeping nearby me, made me feel really happy and made my heart skip more than a few beats. I know that she said jokingly that after this trip I would probably be sick of seeing her, but I just want to see more of her, and see her smile.
Having someone like her say that she likes me is something that I'm not sure that I am able to fully accept her, probably because of my insecurities. I start to think about how a girl like this, so pretty and beautiful couldn't possibly like someone like me right? I start to think about it a lot, too much even, and start to wonder if I'm fabricating a reality rather than living in it. I also start to think about how she said that she likes that I'm nice, treat her well, and am kind to her, but I wonder if that really is all it takes to form a strong bond with one another. The truth however, is sweeter than the fucked up things that I think of or my latent pessimism about things at time, and I feel blessed and lucky to have someone like her profess that she likes me and is thinking about us being together as boyfriend and girlfriend, the only thing she needs is time.
Maybe it's not because of all of the above then; maybe this just because I haven't been in love with someone for so long, and have that feeling returned to me somewhat, that I start to curse my love life and everything it entails. I mean, I know that I'm not exactly unlucky with my love life, having multitudes of girls approach me and stuff like that, but it really doesn't mean much to me, if you don't have the person you want. I could have a million other girls, but if it's not her I'd still be sad and melancholic about the whole thing.
She said that I probably like her more than she does me at this point in time, and she's not wrong. I think I love her. I think that her past is making her very guarded about her feelings and what she does with it, but I believe that things will get better in time. I believe in the smile and face when she looks at me. I believe that one day, it'll all work out.
I look forward to a future with more trips together, and time spent together.
Hamster off and out.
